What I Wish I Knew at 18 by Dennis Trittin ~ Mom Loves 2 Read Review

What I Wish I Knew at 18 is an engaging, comprehensive, and conversational book written to help young adults achieve success in life.
Through lively illustration, simple instruction, and practical, reflective questions, the book reveals key, before-the-fact secrets that propel people into thriving adulthood. Unique in its scope, universal in its message, and timely in its wisdom, it is designed to serve everyone who wants a solid grip on the prize of a successful life.
Although conversationally written to graduates, it is destined to become the definitive parenting guide to preparing children for lives of impact. It is also a must read for schools, colleges, faith leaders, mentors, caregivers, and coaches as they partner with parents to educate students for life. Served in bite-sized morsels, the 109 success pointers average one to two pages in length, along with study questions to facilitate dynamic student discussions and deep personal reflection.

Whether as a curricular resource or as a gift, What I Wish I Knew at 18 will help develop well-rounded students for their betterment and that of mankind.

My Review:
This thought-provoking book is a quick read.  It is a great resource for parents with children of any age to keep on hand, although it is geared towards parents with teenagers.  The insights and wisdom offered in this book are a great help to parents.  It has practical answers to life questions such as "How can I make a successful transition to college?"   or  "How will I build new relationships and achieve a lasting marriage?"  and "What are my financial goals and how will I achieve them?"
Those are just a few examples of the questions represented in this book.  I know I've often asked myself
What if I only knew then what I know now..." and wished I could have done things better or differently.
I know I would have benefited from the wisdom and guidance offered in this book many times in the past. As the parent of three, one a pre-teen, I know I will use this book to assist my husband and I as we try to guide our young ones through the difficult times ahead. Hopefully with the help of this book and the content within, we will be able to prepare our children for the real world so they will have a better start than we had and a greater chance for success in their work and personal relationships.
What I Wish I Knew at 18 is a wonderful book for any parent to keep on hand. The author has also developed a whole curriculum around this book and offers it as well as many more extremely helpful features on his website.

  1. This book sounds really great. I wish there was something like this when I was that age. Perhaps I will give a copy to my little sister! Thanks for the review :)
