FB has Stolen NSN Work

After checking yet one more file I found the finial proof needed to say FB is a thief. PHP-Nuke 7.2 is PHP-Nuke 7.1.1 NSN Modified with ChatServ's phpBB 2.0.7 upgrade. Refer to the file comparision here and you'll notice that FB copied the corrected sql file I provided with 7.1.1 and he forgot to change faqAnswers and faqCategories to faqanswers and faqcategories. This is the finial proof that he is a liar and thief, making money off of our work and not his own! Hey FB, where's my share of those club profits????????????

I would say Congratulations Bob, it looks like you are now the proud owner of PHPNuke, since he has released yours as the official version.

I am going to start this weekend changing all the copyrights in the files on my site from FB to Nukescripts.

FB stole someone elses work and claims it to be his own, if not he would have left it as the NSN upgrade to FB lame ass coding!

He made his bed, let him lay in it and see how all this works out.
I dont need to ask for more support, I know the users of this site support the efforts on Bobs part, all he did was to make a sort of good product BETTER, and he did, if not FB would not have ripped Bob off, but most of all FB's loyal subscription guys.

Even if making bad comments feels sometimes much better in such a moment.

Use the GPL to make your point, beause PHP-Nuke is released under it.

And FB can do anything he wants with his code and others code since this is GPL. He can sell whatever he want. Read the GPL FAQ and qet a clue (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html)

It is ashaming to read such a post; Just reading the GPL is something, that all of you should start instead of writing such useless posts. If you love FB: Go and marry him, but do not posts lies about the GPL.

GPL says in paragraph 1:
"You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Program's source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; "

Or, if it is to heavy for you to read such complicated texts, just look into the official GPL FAQ, it is written for users and answers such Questions. A look there shows you:
"You can certainly get credit for the work. Part of releasing a program under the GPL is writing a copyright notice in your own name (assuming you are the copyright holder). The GPL requires all copies to carry an appropriate copyright notice. "

So this should be solved!? Anyway, this is *not* FBs Code, there are parts from Thatware and other Authors - because of that, he owns partial properties, but not the whole code! If he is using foreign code, he has tu respect the credits - FB himself is the one who cries as loudest if someone removes his (c) output from the footer; But: This Footer is not respected by the GPL. FSF itself told me, that outcommenting this output is allowed - the original Email is here:
http://www.netz-id.de/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1571

By the way: If anyone is nerved by this (c) line output: Just empty the column "copyright" in the table _config. You can leave in your DB what you want as i believe - no one can tell you, what data have to be in your database. if you empty this column, the code still stays in the footer.php, but the variable $copyright will be empty - so: no output.

Just my 2 cents and it would be glad, if only people are talking about GPL, who really read it! This is no question of "i like FB" or "i like phpnuke" - this is a question of using the GPL, nothing else

I should ban you just because of this lame comment.
Listen, I am going to say this again, NSN-NUKE was not stolen from PHP-NUKE, Just like POST-NUKE, just like XOOPS and many others they are all forks!
NSN-NUKE is a complete re-write and under GPL (you may want to go back and read it) if you change a certain amount of code you can claim it to be as your own.
NSN-NUKE or any other CMS is not the argument, and NO, FB cannot claim other peoples code as his own, he would need permission to use someone elses code or give credit for it.
Now go look at the footer of this page, do you not see a PHP-NUKE credit sitting there? and this site is highly modified but that did not stop Bob from leaving it there did it?
Personaly I would strip anything to do with FB if he did the same to me.
Its like building a new computer and someone taking it from you and selling it, its the same thing, your computer and your hard work has been stolen.
Smell the coffee, wake up and read whats going on before running your mouth next time.

Now CMS have great succes the people can choose and i think it s a good think like the people can choose IBF or phpBB or SPLATT ...

Yes, perhaps (i say perhaps) Francisco use part of your code, but you use part of his in nsn nuke and so on and so on.
We can make war everyday for those things but do you really think it s positive for you, for fb, for us ...

There is only one person, who is not respecting the credits - the people here are just searching for something, every author should get. FB can use foreign code, but there are rules he has to respect

It was not PostNuke and not NSN who creates the problems - just think about it!

  Tweety,

I am going on with what I do everyday, I code to the best of my skills.

I also agree with 95% of what you have said. The other 5% is above this comment and in this comment :)

Yes, NSN-Nuke was based on an older PHP-Nuke and credit was given to FB for that. NSN-Nuke has gone thru many stages of coding, recoding, code additions, and code deletions. Very little if any remains that was truely FB's. But the article was not about FB using NSN-Nuke but using a NSN package.

The article above was written to express concern that FB claimed to have recoded all of the admin module files to use the phpBB sql layering, that it took him weeks to do that. He also claimed that he spent days or weeks adding the secfixes, those by ChatServ and users that have submitted fixes here that are in the NSNized versions. There are many improvements in the NSNized versions of PHP-Nuke. Improvements that I honestly don't think FB could do on his own.

Yes he spent weeks sitting and waiting, tring to make it look like he had done the work himself that had already been done. I have his ip tracked thru the site and when he downloaded 7.1.1 which was a month ago. What does lieing to the community do for him, makes him quite a bit of money. 95% of PHP-Nuke is written by people other then him and yet none of them get credit (unless it's a cop stuck in FB's ###) nor rewards for the work they have done to help him line his pockets on their labor.

As far as this being a war, to me it's yet another battle to get the child to be honest in his dealings with others. The same battle that has taken place time and time again, except this time I'm not going to run away and make it easy for him like others have in the past. I'm staying here and making sure people know what they can expect from him.

I do honestly thank you for your thoughtful comment and this in no way is meant as a flame towards you. You have expressed your honest opinion and I respect that. As you pointed out, I simply disagree with some of your points :) I have strong opinions about this and most of them will never see the light of day, mostly because it would make the devil blush if I ever put them into words.

With that, I will end this comment and put my soapbox away for tonite.

Good speach if I do say so myself, BUT, I would like to point out as Bob did.....

NSN-NUKE & PHP-NUKE is not the argument here, the argument or point is.... Bob made changes to the original PHP-NUKE 7.1.0 from FB, fixed a lot of issues (around 100) if I am right and repackaged it to PHP-NUKE 7.1.1 NSN, and in the download section you will find names of people for credit, like CHATSERVE for instance.

Then FB got hold of the 7.1.1 and renamed it to 7.2.0 and released it as his own work, no thanks to Bob, Chatserve or whoever contributed to it.

This has been going on for years as I recall, and nothing has changed, but now we are all standing up and fighting for a little appreciation SOMEWHERE!

If you dont understand what this is all about, dont say nothing, keep out of it and go your merry way.
