A little bit from my perspective:
Cinder and Ella takes the classic Cinderella tale and twists it to make a new and exciting adventure. Instead of the one lonely, underappreciated, overworked, so-sweet-your teeth hurt girl ~ there are 2 sisters, Cinder, and Ella. Each sister has a different personality (like 2 sides of the same coin) and they each look at life, and the challenges thrown at them, in very different ways. The sisters have a struggle on their hands trying to keep their home and family together since their father disappeared. Their mother and 2 other sisters are quite self-centered and expect Cinder and Ella to do all the work.
Cinder is the sweet, caring, overworked sister that accomplishes her daily tasks willingly and with a smile. Ella is quite resentful of her fate, and is often overlooked or forgotten by her stressed out mother. Ella was quite close to her father and feels his loss more deeply than the others in her family, and develops a resentful attitude. The only tangible proof that their father is not dead, is that his tree - a willow - is still living. It is said that each person has a tree that represents their life, if the tree lives, then the person lives as well - but if the tree ever dies. . .
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a must-read for teens and adults alike! The story is full of adventure, conflict, romance, finding inner strength, and sacrifices. There is of course both good and evil, since that is sort of "required" for any good book. This book comes out in stores November 8, 2011. Would make a great Christmas or Birthday gift for those teens or young adults in your life!
