My Review:
I had the pleasure of reading both of these books prior to posting for the Cyber Monday Giveaway.  I must say I was impressed with the stories and characters in both books.  For all the YA, paranormal, fantasy fans - these books are great reads.  Both books kept my interest from start to finish, made me wonder what would happen next, and actually kept me in suspense for most of the book.  I personally struggled with a few of the story's details and situations; but I don't want to put any spoilers in this review, so you'll just have to read them for yourself!  Well-written, intriguing story, characters with depth and honest emotion, teenage struggles and paranormal/supernatural elements - definitely a good read!

Boyfriend from Hell

By E Van Lowe
Genre: Paranormal YA
Book 1
Aww, Hell No!
Fifteen year-old Megan Barnett and her single mom, Suze, have a special relationship—they are friends, close friends, who do almost everything together.
“But come on, guys, she’s my mother… Can I really tell her that while we’re snuggled up on the sofa watching Spider Man Three, I’m secretly undressing James Franco with my eyes?  Of course not…”
The special bond takes a turn for the worse when Suze decides to start dating again.  She hasn’t had a man in her life since Megan’s father left ten years ago.
Enter two mysterious young men, Megan’s new classmate, sinfully attractive bad boy, Guy Matson, and the dangerously handsome art dealer, Armando.  Before long Megan and Suze both wind up in steamy relationships.  But neither of the handsome guys is quite what he seems.  In fact, one of them is Satan, with his sights set on a new bride.  Megan has precious little time to figure out how to stop him.  If she doesn’t, either Megan or Suze are quite literally going to HELL .
Boyfriend From Hell is the first book in the Falling Angels Saga from the author of the gruesomely hilarious, Never Slow Dance With A Zombie

Shadows of Pain by Ashley Dawn

 Author Guest Post

Today I have the privilege of welcoming Ashley Dawn, author of the Christian Romantic Suspense book: Shadows of Pain  (Shadows Series book 3).  Ashley is guest posting here today.
Thank you for coming Ashley.  Make yourself at home ~

Guest Post :
“What actually inspired you to write a book, I never knew you were creative?”  My cousin was giving me a hard time at a book signing last month.  I laughed at her and told her something like; I have many hidden talents and just laughed it off.  When I get to thinking about it, honestly, I think it had to be my mother’s bedtime stories.  She is an amazing woman and has such an imagination and she seems to have passed that on to my siblings and me.  I remember her nieces and nephews would specifically come to spend the night so they could hear her stories.

It wasn’t like she wrote them down then read them, she told them ‘off the cuff’ and they were great!  One was about ‘The alligator that got flushed down the toilet’ another ‘The Leaf that Ran Away From Home’ and they kept us laughing.  I think that was the best thing she could have ever done.  Each story had a moral and a life lesson.  The fact that she would get us all together and entertain us was just great.  I think she had as much fun in the telling as we had in the listening.  It made me want to entertain people that way.

She has helped me in my writing career.  She is the first one I ever showed any of my work and she encouraged me to continue it.  I’ve had many reasons to write, I want to entertain, to try to write a good ‘caliber’ book and several other things but I always think back to nighttime at an old two-story house with my mom telling the stories and being completely entertained.  I just hope one day someone finds one of my stories half as entertaining as hers were for me!  Thanks mom!!!

Description from book:

Revenge is sweet….unless you are on the receiving end of it.

“Do you know of anyone who would want…you dead?”

Officer Daniel Jenkins was no stranger to the dangers his job posed but usually he knew who was trying to kill him. Being stalked was a completely different ball game, and he wasn’t sure there were any rules…

“…I need you.”

Terrified didn’t even begin to describe how Kami felt with the stalker targeting her. As an FBI agent you were trained to handle stressful situations, but being the victim put the whole process in a different light.

As the killer gets closer, so do Kami and Daniel, but will they live long enough to see their love bloom?

Only God can save them from this unknown killer…

Shadows of Pain is an intriguing Christian Romantic Suspense book.  Following along as Kami and Daniel work through their differences, budding romance, and a dangerous stalker was exciting.  I was drawn in from the first page to the last.  A great book!  Now I just need to go back and read the first 2 books in the series, so I can re-read this one again!  :)

Funny Mommy Times

As I'm sitting at my laptop in the living room and my 3 year old daughter is watching cartoons on TV (we are both still in our jammies), I get a wonderful ringing sound on my computer.  My friend is skyping me to chat.  So, what does my precocious little girl do?  She comes up to  me and says is her most sweetest, sugariest, cutest voice "Mommy can I PLEASE have just a little piece of your poptart?"  Now how can anyone resist that?  So, I let her have a small piece (even though she has already had her breakfast, and I have not yet had even 1 bite).
I continue chatting away with my friend, only to have my little one come up once again, "Mommy . . . "
So being the GOOD Mommy who must do what is BEST for my daughter and teach her that she can not always have what she wants. . . I give her the rest of my poptart.  :(  I know, pathetic, right?  So now I sit here with no breakfast and a daughter who is more than satisfied with 2 breakfasts today!  Oh the Joys of Mommyhood!

Here is a cute pic of my little Monkey:

Could YOU resist this face????  ;)

Two Moons of Sera Review

Two Moons of Sera
Blog Tour Nov. 1 - 30th

Two Moons of Sera Synopsis: In a world where water and earth teem with life, Serafay is an anomaly. The result of genetic experiments on her mother's water-borne line Serafay will have to face the very people responsible to discover who she really is.   But is she the only one?

Review :
Serafay is sixteen years of age.  She has been living in a secluded cove with her mother who is a  Sualwet, a being of the sea.  Sera is half Saulwet and half Erlander, a being of the earth (like a human). Her mother had been captured by the Erlanders and experimented on.  She was able to escape, but only to later have a child of both worlds.  Sera is considered an outsider to both races so she must stay in exile, however one day while on the beach of her cove, a mysterious man snatches some papers she is drying, and runs off.  As she chases him down, she wonders who he is.   Sera’s mother has taught her to distrust all Erlanders, and although Sera is cautious about strangers, she is determined to find out who the stranger is.  And so her adventure begins.

I loved getting aquainted with Sera and her mysterious stranger.  I enjoyed learning about Sera and her mother’s background, as well as how Sera has adapted to living in both worlds, both the land and the sea.  Her intelligence and keen understanding of things that she has never been taught ads a magical quality to her character.  I love how Sera is strong-willed, independent and yet vulnerable at the same time.  Just when she begins to realize that she is lonely in spite of having her mother with her, a new mysterious person arrives in her life.

As for her new friend, Tor (Torkek), I love how he is an enigma.  He seems both strong and vulnerable, and well as determined to learn all he can, while still remaining mysterious I wonder what adventures will come their way, and I want to learn more about Tor and where he comes from.
This is part one of a Serial Novel, which means that it is told in several short stories rather than a single long novel. .  I am anxious for the next volume in this serial novel, due to come out early in 2012.  I can’t wait to see what happens next to both Sera and Tor.  Definitely a book worth reading, and an author worth following!

Book Exerpt

“How did I get here? The point of living was insignificant. I was just sixteen, my birthday had passed without comment or celebration. My entire existence had been spent in hiding. A war raged around me, while I hid safely in my utopian cove. I never did anything wrong, there was nothing to do. A lifetime of nothing spanned behind me and stretched endlessly in front of me. Stories from books and melodisks told of adventures and loves, stories I had never forgotten. Each one engraved in my soul like a promise. Until I met Tor. Torkek.

Until he spoke to me, sat with me, yelled at me, frightened me.

Each movement he made fed my hunger for experience. Each emotion he inspired within me made him more and more vital. I knew I couldn't have him. I couldn't be the princess from the fairytales who walked hand in hand with the man who saved her from the monsters. The stories were all the same. The princess thanked her savior with a kiss so painfully true, it sealed their love forever. Instead, I would have to say goodbye and he would leave. I would ache for him to return and maybe one day he would, but never for long. The reality of my existence excluded his presence. I was an abomination, a mutant, a hybrid never meant to exist. What would he think when he found out the truth?”
