Amanda Hocking ~ Author Spotlight ~

Amanda Hocking is one of my favorite *new* authors (new to me).  For as young as she is, she is very talented (and yes, I AM a bit jealous - lol)

My favorite series of hers, so far, is the "My Blood Approves" series, *sigh* I am SO in love (second only to my hubby of course) with Peter!  I really wish Amanda would write me into the next book as Peter's new love interest!  I have some amazing ideas about that. . . well, anyway - enough about me. . . here is:

A Little About Amanda Hocking taken straight from her blog:

About Me

I live in Minnesota, and I write young adult paranormal romance and urban fantasy mostly. I've self-published nine books so far - five in the My Blood Approves series, three in the Trylle Trilogy, and the first book in The Hollows series, with a tenth book - Virtue - coming out on Memorial Day.

The Trylle Trilogy has made the USA Today Bestseller list and was recently optioned for a film by Media Rights Capital with  District 9 screenwriter Terri Tatchell adapting the books for screen. St. Martin's Press also recently acquired my new young adult four-book series Watersong, which should be out sometime in 2012.

I make collages all the time, too.

I also enjoy Red Bull, Jim Henson, Batman, Jane Austen, Star Wars legos, and I absolutely hate long walks on the beach out of my intense fear/hatred of wet sand

My favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, Bret Easton Ellis, Alan Moore, and J. D. Salinger, but I don't write anything like them.

I have an obsession with River Phoenix, and I've seen Silence of the Lambs more than any other movie, even The Dark Knight. I'm pretty sure I've seen every American movie that came out between 1980 and 1990, and I've loved them all. I'm currently mildly obsessed with The Hangover, and I've watched it roughly 18 times in the last two weeks.

My heroes include John Hughes, Jim Henson, Mark Hoppus, and Batman. A Midsummer Night's Dream is my favorite play, and I want to watch it all the time. I listen to a lot of music, but Silverchair, Ryan Adams, Elliott Smith, and blink 182 are never too far from any of my playlists. My favorite song ever is "Wonderall" by Oasis. I'm also crazy about film scores, particuarly Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Clint Mansell... and about a million others.
If I were trapped on a deserted island, the one thing I'd take with me would be a boat capable for taking me home.

I'm also the guitarist in a band called the Fraggin Aardvarks, and even though its twice as cool as it sounds, we haven't had a practice in like two years, so I'm not sure that technically we are still a band. But we never broke up, and it's an awesome thing to tell people, so I'm sticking with it. (We even had a synethesizer!)

  1. Amanda sounds like a very interesting author. I don't like wet sand either! I haven't read any of her books- but I have a lot in common with her and from what you wrote- her books are amazing! I guess I better put them on my list!

I found you through Book Blogs and signed up to follow you. When you have a chance- please stop by and follow the blog for my middle grade novel that I am hoping to get published. http://thesecretdmsfilesoffairdaymorrow.blogspot.com/

    Take care-
Jess- although I may show up as Fairday, the main character from my novel. I can't figure out why that happens and I can't fix it. :)
