ABOUT THE BOOK
Destitute, grief-stricken, and unwanted by the people of God, Ruth arrives in Israel with nothing to recommend her but Naomi's, love. Her loftiest hope is to provide enough food to save Naomi and herself from starvation.
But God has other plans for her life. While everyone considers Ruth an
outcast, she is astounded to find one of the most honored men of Judah showing her favor. Long since a widower and determined to stay that way, Boaz is irresistibly drawn to the foreign woman with the haunted eyes. He tells himself he is only being kind to his Cousin Naomi's chosen daughter when he goes out of his way to protect her from harm, but his heart knows better.
Based on the biblical account of Ruth, In the Field of Grace is the story of a love that ultimately changes the course of Israel's destiny and the future of the whole world.

My Review :
I absolutely LOVE Tessa Afshar's books. She is such a dynamic and talented author that her stories take me to places I never thought I could go. In The Field of Grace is the fourth book by Tessa Afshar that I have had the pleasure of Reading, and once again she has amazed me. Based on the biblical account of Ruth & Naomi, In the Field of Grace is the story of a love that ultimately changes the course of Israel's destiny and the future of the whole world.
The story is well written and easy to read. It is one that is very difficult to put down and step away from, and the story stays with you even after you have finished reading it. I have already told many people how wonderful this story, as well as the other three are and highly recommend it.
I love how believable it is and how it really could have happened just the way the author writes it. I loved being able to read about Ruth's background, how she and Naomi met and even more about Orpah and Naomi's two sons. The story took my imagination right to where they lived, how they lived and the difficulties and trials that were a normal part of that biblical time period. The emotions of the characters brought me to tears at times and laughter at other times.
This is a story of faith in the midst of tragedy, love and determination as well as God's faithfulness even when the reasons for everything are not clear. Ruth's faith in a God she does not know even when her mother in law, Naomi, has lost her faith is a wonderful lesson for any Christian. Ruth's story has always been one of my top favorites and I never thought I could love it more, but I do since reading In The Field of Grace. It is such a wonderful story that is well worth reading over and over, and sharing with friends and family!
