Fritzi’s in the house!  But o ù est Fritzi?

Finding the mischievous mouse Fritzi is just part of the fun in this lively language learning program from Whistlefritz, the award-winning producers of the Spanish for Kids series of DVDs and CDs.

This French immersion DVD welcomes you to Fritzi’s house, where up or down, inside or out, there is lots to learn and plenty to do.  Explore every area of Fritzi’s house, from la chambre (the bedroom) and la salle de bain (the bathroom) to le salon (the living room) and la cuisine (the kitchen).  An engaging interactive
format teaches children basic greetings, positional words, food, daily activities, numbers, and more.

But that’s not all! Nous allons chanter et danser!  (We’re going to sing and dance!)  This DVD will have children on their feet dancing along to upbeat rhythms.  Dedans et Dehors is an engaging blend of colorful backgrounds, charming animation and live-action that kids will want to revisit again and again.

This DVD includes an easy-to-use translation guide for parents and teachers, who are first time learners of French, as well as French subtitles.  Designed for children ages 2-7, Dedans et Dehors is fun for all ages!

My Review :
Knowing how beneficial it is to children’s brain development when they learn a second language, I have made sure that each time I am offered a chance to review materials that help young children learn other languages, I jump at the chance.  So far, we have reviewed a Japanese language immersion DVD and Spanish immersion DVD both with amazing success.  Both are still loved by myself and my children - especially my youngest who watches at least one of them everyday.

Now, being introduced to a French immersion DVD by a company I have not yet reviewed for - I was excited to see how my youngest would react and if she would love it as much as the other language learning DVDs we have previously tried.

Of course she loves it.  The animations are adorable, the DVD is easy to follow especially with the english subtitles during the playing of the DVD - very helpful as we do not speak any French.
She loves the little mouse Fritzi, and as a Mom watching along - I can say that the DVD is fun and exciting but more geared to younger children - my 9 year old quickly lost interest and thought it was "too kiddish" for her.  I think my younger nieces - ages 3 and almost 2 - would enjoy watching this DVD along with my 5 year old.

My personal favorite part of this DVD was the charades - it was fun to guess along with my daughter.  We both have learned a few new words and as the repetition of the words in the DVD and repeatedly playing the DVD I expect we will retain many more after we have had more time to watch and learn.

French for Kids: Dedans et Dehors can be found on the website as well as other online retailers.
